Night Flights

Philip Reeve's first novel "Mortal Engines" won the Gold Smarties Award and The Blue Peter Book of The Year award, his second novel, "Predator's Gold, was long-listed for the prestigious Carnegie Medal 2003. The third novel is Infernal Devices, and the final book in the series, "A Darkling Plain" won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. The award winning series has also achieved some success in the United States, where it is known as the "Hungry City Chronicles".

April 2006: Warner Brothers has pre-emptively bought film rights on "Larklight". The book is described in Bloomsbury's editorial review as "utterly unique and devilishly witty, this is Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy meets The Barchester Chronicles. The film is already in development with Shekhar Kapur as Director.

April 2008 on filming of Larklight:"It's a $200 million project, probably the most expensive film I've made and will ever make" Kapur is quoted as announcing. Eastern Promises screenwriter Steve Knight is adapting the novel.

February 2015: Oxford University Press signed up a new novel from Philip Reeve in a "major" pre-Bologna deal last March concluded on the eve of the fair. The world rights deal was agreed between Liz Cross, head of publishing at Oxford Children's, and Reeve's agent; Philippa Milnes-Smith of LAW.
November 2015 Railhead is newly released to favourable reviews and the news that film rights have been bought by Warner Bros.

February 2017 Peter Jackson is to write the screenplay and produce the film of Philip Reeve’s Mortal Engines. Christian Rivers will direct the film and the Icelandic actress, Hera Hilmar, will take the female lead. The launch date is planned for December 2018.

March 2017 Philip Reeve's latest book, Rail Head, has been shortlisted for the CLIP Carnegie Medal Shortlist for 2017.

May 2018 Mortal Engines, due to be released in December 2018, is an upcoming post-apocalyptic adventure film directed by Christian Rivers and written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson and is based on Philip Reeve's novel of the same name. It is reported that all the live action filming is now completed and the film is now in the post-production phase.
September, 2018. Night Flights, three short stories, set in the dystopian world of Mortal Engines has just been published by Scholastic.
