Near Fine in pale green boards, no inscriptions, 4 pages have vertical creases, in Very Good plus unclipped dust jacket, one closed tear at base of spine, now loosely protected in clear film.  Overall an exceptionally bright, clean copy with no toning.  Long-listed for the Man Booker Prize.

John Bayley, academic, literary critic and author, who married st Iris Murdoch in 1956, and whose second wife and family friend, Audi Villers, survives him, has died in Lanzarote on 12 January 2015.

August 2015 The BBC is broadcasting several items on Iris Murdoch in recognition of the renewed interest in the author's work. These include a short play by Robin Brooks, a discussion on Woman's Hour with Dr. Anne Rowe which includes the dramatisation in five episodes of A Severed Head and the serialisation of the Booker prize-winning novel The Sea, The Sea on Sunday afternoons. February 2018. The new Iris Murdoch Research centre at Chichester University, under its Director, Dr. Miles Leeson, holds regular events, more details of which may be found on the Iris Murdoch Research Centre website. Research continues as the Archive now houses Iris Murdoch's Journals and a wealth of additional material from the estate.
