The Burning |
Thomas Legendre The Burning. London, Little Brown, 2006. Fine in Fine dustjacket. Signed by author. Thomas Legendre, a former university lecturer in Arizona, now lives in Edinburgh. This is his first novel, which was initially rejected by US publishers. It has been greeted with some enthusiasm in the UK and, as a result, will now be published later in the year in the States. Compelling story of a young American lecturer attempting to resolve the conflicts in his personal and academic life - as an economist, he is confronted with the realisation that endless growth is not necessarily an environmentally sound proposition. Recommended.
